Photography Seminars The following are classes that have already taken place. Bruce Nichols was the guide for these these seminars. Bruce has been a photographer in Casper for over 40 years. He has taught various Casper College classes (including basic and darkroom photo), and has taught private classes and seminars for over 10 years. He has participated in many photography shows, both one man and several artists. He has over 200 images published in news, magazines, and books. 1. Basic Photography - The Triangle Approach - ISO, Aperture and Shutter Speed This class is designed to help the average snap shot photographer to improve the understanding of how the camera works, and how to get better pictures. Many of today's cameras have so many automatic features that the camera takes care of 80% of the thinking. For those that want to go beyond snap shots and understand how to get more out of the camera for those special occasions or circumstances, this is your class. As in anything, if you learn how something works - and then practice what you know, you can make large improvements very quickly. Motion in Still Pictures - Freeze - Blur - Pan - Wildlife and Bird Photography This class is designed for those that may or may not have taken the basic class. The class time will be spent discussing the different methods that can be used to improve your still photographs so that motion can be part of the composition and interest. Learn when and how to override all the automatic settings on the your camera to increase your chances of what you want in your pictures. Date: February 13, 2010 at 2:00 PM Plan to spend between two and three hours. Location: To be announced Cost: $50 What to bring: Camera with manual (if you have one). Audubon Photo Seminar The seminar class time will be spent discussing different methods that can be used to improve your photography. Use of the exposure triangle system will help you understand how the camera workds. Many of todays cameras have so many automatic features that the camera takes care of 80% of the thinking. Learn when and how to override or change all the automatic processes on your camera to increase your chances of getting what you really want in your pictures. Learn what equipment you may want or need. As in anything, if you learn how something works, and then practice what you know, you can make large improvements fairly quickly. The seminar is learning, followed by questions and answers, and then an opportunity to practice at the Audubon Bird Sanctuary, and may be all intermixed. Low Light Photography Discussions include photographing the moon, starts, fireworks, lightning, Christmas lights, downtown, firelight, rainbows, and sundogs. This class is designed for those who may or may not have taken the basic class. The class time will be spent discussing the different methods that can be used to improve your still photographs to obtain the composition and interest you wish in low light. Learn when and hwo to modify or override all the automatic settings on the new cameras to increase your chances of getting what you want in your pictures.
